History of the Padmashali Bhavan

• In 1943, during the first meeting of the Padmashali Youth Association in Hyderabad, Sri Konda Lakshman Bapuji proposed a resolution for the establishment of the Padmashali building and student hostels.

• In 1947, a piece of land measuring 1200 square yards in the Narayanguda Rajmohalla area of Hyderabad was purchased for Rs. 25,000. • In 1954, the foundation for the new building was laid by Padmashali benefactor Sri Madapati Hanumantaravu.
• That same year, under the leadership of Sri Konda Lakshman Bapuji, prominent Padmashali figures contributed their labor and efforts toward the building’s construction.
• In 1960, the Weavers Welfare Trust was registered, and the Padmashali building was entrusted to the trust as fixed property. The responsibility for managing the hostels also passed to the trust.
• In 1968, an upper floor was added to the building using funds from the educational trust established by Sri Guntaka Narasayya, and the income generated from this was used to support underprivileged students financially.
• In 1976, the foundation stone for the construction of a Kalyana Mandapam (marriage hall) was laid. The inauguration was held in 1984, thanks to the generous contributions of Sri Nalli Kuppuswamy Shetty.
• Sri Vanam Sudarshan donated Rs. 51,000 in memory of his parents, and the hall was named “Sri Vanam Venkanna Vedika.” Similarly, in honor of his mother, Sri Durga Narasimhalu donated Rs. 51,116, and the dining hall was named after his mother, “Sri Durga Latchamma Dining Hall.”
• As part of the hostel building’s expansion, additional construction was undertaken to provide revenue for the trust. Some portions were allocated for the trust and association offices and for service programs.
• In 1992, a Kalyana Mandapam was constructed on the first floor of the Padmashali Hall. The names and photographs of the donors who contributed to the construction were inscribed on a commemorative plaque.
• The first floor of the Kalyana Mandapam was named after Sri Nomula Swami Dasu, who donated Rs. 75,000 for its construction. It was named the “Sri Nomula Nagamma and Swami Dasu Hall” in their honor.
• In line with changing times, the building was designed and renovated to a high standard, making it a beautiful and functional space.
• In 1998, the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Padmashali building were held with great grandeur.
