The Padmashali Seva Samaj Trust in Secunderabad is a shining example of a collective effort driven by the determination to serve society and uplift the community. The vision and efforts of prominent Padmashali leaders such as K.S. Addagattla Narasayya and Sri Nomula Swami Das laid the foundation for the organization. They sought to provide financial assistance and opportunities to underprivileged Padmashali students, women, and members, helping to elevate the consciousness of Padmashali people across India.
The Seva Samaj was founded in 1967, following the recommendations of Sri Addagattla Narasayya. Notable Padmashali leaders like Sri Nomula Swami Das, Sri Samala Venkataiah, Sri Kandi Rajalingam, and others played a pivotal role in shaping the Seva Trust.
The trust purchased a piece of land measuring approximately 4,220 square yards in West Marredpally for the construction of its facilities. Key figures like Sri Addagattla Narasayya, Sri Nomula Swami Das, and Sri Surakanti Veereshan made generous contributions, and the foundation for the building was laid with the collective support of community members.
Kalyana Mandapam (Marriage Hall):
The Trust decided to build a beautiful Kalyana Mandapam, which was funded through donations. Sri Chippa Babbayya contributed Rs. 2 lakh, and Sri Sangishetti Shambayya donated Rs. 1.25 lakh. On May 26, 1985, the Trust’s General Secretary, Sri Nomula Swami Das, laid the foundation stone for the Kalyana Mandapam. The construction was completed within five years, thanks to the collective efforts and contributions of donors. The Kalyana Mandapam was inaugurated on January 28, 1990, by the then Chief Minister of the state, Sri Marri Chenna Reddy, in a grand ceremony. Sri Surakanti Veereshan presided over the event.
Student Hostel:
To assist Padmashali students coming from villages to pursue their education in the city, the Trust constructed 15 rooms on the upper floor of the building, specifically designed as student hostels. This hostel was inaugurated on August 31, 1992. Initially, Sri Pappali Ramayya served as the hostel president, and later, under the leadership of Sri Addagattla Prabhakar, the hostel operations were effectively managed.
Padmakuttu Training Centers:
Sri Samala Venkataiah, one of the Trust members, focused on the empowerment of women. He donated two sewing machines, which led to the establishment of the “Padma Kuttu Training Center.” The Trust runs 14 training centers, not only in the twin cities but also in major towns across the region. Women who complete six months of training are awarded certificates. Additionally, on national holidays, competitions in handicrafts are held at these centers, and prizes are awarded to the winners.
Distribution of Scholarships to Padmashali Students:
One of the main goals of the Padmashali Seva Samaj Trust has always been the educational development of Padmashali students. Between 1982 and 1989, the Trust provided free notebooks to students. From the 1990-91 academic year onwards, the Trust began awarding scholarships (financial assistance) to deserving and needy students, distributing millions of rupees in scholarships to this day.
