• Around 1931, the Nizam government collected information about Ayurvedic practitioners in the region. Out of the 7,000 Ayurvedic doctors in the Telangana region, 6,000 were from the Padmashali community.
• Among the royal physicians under the Nizam’s rule, Padmashalis like Sri Hakim Narayanadasu and Sri Davathu Janardhan Swami served as trusted medical practitioners.
• Under the Nizam’s directive, the responsibility of expanding Ayurvedic medicine was entrusted to these two individuals, and many Padmashalis stepped forward to practice as Ayurvedic doctors.
• Those who were highly skilled in Ayurveda were honored with the title of ‘Hakim’ during the Nizam’s reign, a mark of respect.
• In addition to their medical expertise, Padmashalis were also known for their proficiency in physical exercise demonstrations.
• During the Nizam’s rule, the expansion of gyms and exercise centers took place, with Padmashalis playing a prominent role in managing these facilities.
